Around The NFL – AFC North

Today’s stop on our breathless rush through the ranks of professional football is the AFC North, or, as I like to call it, America’s Most Wanted. From Ben Roethlisburger to Cedric Benson and Pacman Jones, this division is sure to serve up at least a criminal a week, if not more. But regardless of the less-than-legal off-field actions from this group, it is still my sacred duty to break the teams down, piece by piece. So I am proud to present Part 2 of Around The NFL. Here is how the division will break down:

(#x = Last year’s rankings)

1) Baltimore Ravens 10-6
Quarterback: Joe Flacco (#14), Mark Bulger (#30)
Running Back: Ray Rice (#3), Willis McGahee (#17),
Wide Receivers: Derrick Mason (#23), Anquan Boldin (#38), Mark Clayton (#73)
Tight Ends: Todd Heap (#7)
QB Protection: #21
Rush Protection: #4
Sacks (on opponent): #20
Run Defense: #1
Pass Defense: #9
Key Additions: WR Anquan Boldin (#38), WR Derrick Mason (#23), QB Mark Bulger (#30)
Key Losses: DT Justin Bannan, DE Dwan Edwards
Notes: Baltimore quietly had the best offseason they could hope for, keeping all of the pieces that led them past the Patriots and into the divisional playoffs. In addition, they added much-needed support at QB, and two quality receivers to back Joe Flacco up… Rice and McGahee are the third best RB combo in the NFL, behind Carolina’s Stewart and Williams, and Miami’s Williams and Brown… The hiring of Jim Zorn as QB coach was a fantastic move; he was instrumental in fine-tuning the mechanics of both Charlie Batch and Matt Hasselbeck.

2) Cincinnati Bengals 8-8
Quarterback: Carson Palmer (#15)
Running Back: Cedric Benson (#14)
Wide Receivers: Chad Ochocinco (#15), Andre Caldwell (#60), Antonio Bryant (#66), Terrell Owens (#70)
Tight Ends: Jermaine Gresham (N/A)
QB Protection: #11
Rush Protection: #22
Sacks (on opponent): #18
Run Defense: #7
Pass Defense: #6
Key Additions: WR Antonio Bryant (#66), CB Pacman Jones
Key Losses: WR Laveranues Coles (#44), K Shayne Graham
Notes: This team is remarkably average for a team that made the playoffs last year… Teams don’t win by being mediocre at everything; one facet of this team needs to stand out, whether it be running, passing, or smashmouth defense… Nobody leave Pacman Jones (vandalism, assault with a deadly weapon, public intoxication) near Cedric Benson (DWI, resisting arrest)… Is it just me, or are those orange alternate jerseys looking more like prison jumpsuits? Just a thought.

3) Pittsburgh Steelers 8-8
Quarterback: Ben Roethlisburger (#8), Byron Leftwich (#24)
Running Back: Rashard Mendenhall (#25)
Wide Receivers: Hines Ward (#9), Mike Wallace (#16), Antwaan Randle El (#51)
Tight Ends: Heath Miller (#8)
QB Protection: #30
Rush Protection: #18
Sacks (on opponent): #3
Run Defense: #5
Pass Defense: #15
Key Additions: QB Byron Leftwich (#24), WR Antwaan Randle El (#51), CB Bryant McFadden
Key Losses: WR Santonio Holmes (#10), RB Willie Parker (N/A), G Darnell Stapleton
Notes: Maybe Roethlisburger’s legal problems can be traced back to all the hits to the head he takes behind this AWFUL offensive line?… No team lost more this off-season: Holmes will be impossible to replace, as will Roethlisburger (for the beginning of the year)… With their offense on the decline, the Steelers must return to the form that netted them the Super Bowl: Blitzburg…. Expect the Steelers passing game to fail without a valid run game to back it up (also, as long as the O-line lays over and plays dead).

Cleveland Browns 5-11
Quarterback: Seneca Wallace (#26), Jake Delhomme (#33)
Running Back: Jerome Harrison (#28)
Wide Receivers: Chansi Stuckey (#85), Josh Cribbs (N/A), Mohamed Massaquoi (N/A)
Tight Ends: Ben Watson (#10), Robert Royal (#33)
QB Protection: #17
Rush Protection: #17
Sacks (on opponent): #7
Run Defense: #29
Pass Defense: #28
Key Additions: QB Jake Delhomme (#33), QB Seneca Wallace (#26), TE Ben Watson (#10)
Key Losses: QB Derek Anderson (#42), QB Brady Quinn (#31), RB Jamal Lewis (#41)
Notes: While more attention has been paid to the passer overhaul, one has to wonder: Who exactly will they pass to?… Ben Watson is the most promising player here, but when’s the last time Belichick let a quality player go?… Jake Delhomme made the biggest switch in recent memory, from Carolina’s high-flying offense to the plane wreck that are the Browns… I had high hopes for Colt McCoy, but he better hope for a trade if he wants to fulfill his immense potential as a QB.

More to come!

Who Will Win The Lombardi Trophy In 2014?

Every year I make bold predictions about which teams in the NFL will stand tall, and which ones will be looking up at the powerhouses. Okay, in all honesty, it’s hard to accurately predict these because of injuries and free agencies. Yeah, that’s my excuse! Anyway, let’s see if I can get this one right. Let’s see if I can correctly predict the two Superbowl teams, and the winner of the 2014 Lombardi Trophy.

Let’s begin in the AFC East, where the Patriots should win this division going away. I mean, the Patriots still have Tom Brady. Enough said. This team has looked great in the preseason! Leave it to Head Coach Bill Belichick to get his team to rise above the crushing loss of his two biggest weapons, Tight Ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez. Adversity is laughable to Belichick. He loves a challenge! The closest team in this division, behind the Patriots, will be the Miami Dolphins, who I think will be much improved.

The AFC North belongs to the Cincinnati Bengals this season. They are faster, and more potent on offense with the addition of BenJarvus Green-Ellis and rookie Giovani Bernard. There is no excuse for this team not winning this division in 2013-14, and no excuse for them not going deep into the playoffs! The Ravens will finish a close second to Cincinnati.

The AFC South looks like a two team race again this season between Indianapolis and Houston. Andrew Luck was VERY good in his rookie season, and I think he’ll be better this season. The Colts win this division, with the Texans and oft injured Matt Schaub and Arian Foster two games behind.

The AFC West is the Denver Broncos’ division to lose. Peyton Manning now has Wes Welker as an additional target, along with Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker. The Broncos were so close to advancing to the AFC Championship game in January. I would be shocked if they don’t win this division. The Chiefs, with new head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Alex Smith, may make a push for the division, but it won’t be good enough. They finish second.

The NFC East will be a battle between the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins. I’m not convinced that RGIII is healthy enough to last for 16 games. This is too close to call. This division is going to come down to the final game of the season, a December 29 game at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The Giants win that game and the division. The Redskins finish a close second but still make the playoffs.

The NFC North looks like it’s a given for the Green Bay Packers, but hold on, the Chicago Bears have something to say about that. The Bears look much improved during the preseason. New head coach Marc Trestman has breathed new life into this Bears team. I like the way they look! I expect Jay Cutler to be better, along with the offense that includes wide receiver Brandon Marshall, and running backs Matt Forte and Michael Bush. That defense will be a force as well, led by linebackers Lance Briggs and rookie Jon Bostic. Let’s give the nod in this division to Green Bay, with the Bears close behind, just missing the playoffs.

The NFC South is pretty simple. It’s a two horse race, and the New Orleans Saints are the thoroughbreds of the division. Coach Sean Payton is back after a year long suspension, Drew Brees is hungry for another division title, and the Saints will win this division by at least two games. The Atlanta Falcons added running back Steven Jackson, dealt from St. Louis, they still have tight end Tony Gonzalez, and quarterback Matt Ryan. I think the Falcons lose twice to the Saints this season, and that will be the difference in the division race.

Finally, the NFC West, a division full of gunslingers and power backs. San Francisco advanced to the Superbowl in January behind quarterback Colin Kaepernick, and Seattle made the playoffs with rookie quarterback Russell Wilson leading the way. The 49ers have running back Frank Gore, but the Seahawks have running back Marshawn Lynch. See how even this is? The Seahawks came within a whisker of reaching the NFC Championship game last season. They dominated the 49ers late in the season. The 49ers won the NFC West, and if not for a stunning loss to Atlanta in the playoffs, we would be talking about the Seahawks as the winners of the NFC. This is such a tough division to predict, but I think Seattle comes out on top, with the 49ers close behind.

Finally we come to the playoffs. The six playoff teams in the AFC will be New England, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Indianapolis, Houston and Denver. The AFC Champion will be Denver, a 20-17 winner over New England in the title game.

The NFC playoff teams will be the New York Giants, Washington, Green Bay, New Orleans, Seattle and San Francisco. The NFC champion will be New Orleans, a 24-17 winner over Green Bay in the title game.

New Orleans defeats Denver 34-31 in overtime to win the Lombardi Trophy!

NFL Fan Clothing For the Ladies

The NFL is one of the most exciting leagues in the country and there is a variety of NFL fan clothing that ladies can get when they go to the games. This is the best way to show the men that you are also part of the team when you are in the stands. Gone are the days when ladies had to settle for oversize shirts and jerseys borrowed from their brothers, husbands and boyfriends when they go out to watch a game. It is now possible to get gear in colors and styles that are suitable for ladies when you go for a Ravens, Panthers, Jets, Bills, Colts, Vikings, or Super Bowl game.

The league has improved over the last few years and it is now targeting more female supporters in its marketing campaigns. When women go to a game, they want NFL fan clothing that has been made especially for them. They want jerseys, shirts and caps that are suitable for their style. There is a great deal of gear that is designed specially for women and they come in a variety of pastel colors. The best thing about them is that they suit the female figure therefore you are able to stand out in the crowd.

The NFL fan clothing is easy to get and ladies can visit different vendors and sources to find the official merchandise. When you are looking for gear that suits your size and style, you should be very careful to make sure that the ones that you purchase are not imitations. Avoid buying from street vendors if you want something that looks great and lasts for long.

One of the best places to get the right gear for ladies is on online sites. Online stores usually have a variety of sizes, colors and styles to suit your personality. When you are searching through the sites, it is important to ensure that they have the official logo of the particular team that you want. If you have a small body, the internet stores are a great option when you are shopping for gear. These stores also offer discounts therefore you end up spending less money to look great when you go out to your team’s games.

Another place that ladies can get the jersey, shirts and caps is from the sport stores that are in their neighborhood. Visit the larger stores because they are more likely to stock the genuine products. You can also purchase them from the official league stores. This is the best store to shop from if you prefer to have a custom made jersey or hat. These stores can include your name at the back and have your favorite player’s number. If there is no local store that stocks them, you can simply buy them from the vendors who are based within the stadiums because they offer genuine merchandise.

The Lingerie Guide to the Universe

Lingerie does for a woman’s body what seasoning does for food. Just as the spices and herbs enhances the flavor of food, corsets, bustier, gowns, sexy bras and thongs enhances the visual effects of a woman’s body. I don’t know what primitive man first discovered adding herbs and spices to food, but, God bless him. Don’t get me wrong… I believe food can be quite tasty without spices; however, it is even better with them. Same for lingerie.

Lingerie accentuates the shape of a woman. Women are beautiful on their own, but lingerie can give that extra kick that makes them bubble with flavors never before imagined.

As I thought about that, I realized I had just made a connection between lingerie and food. How odd, what a strange connection when you think about it. Is there any real connection between lingerie and food? What about everything else in the universe? I think lingerie is linked with the entire universe, and I am out to prove it. Let’s take a look at food first.

From Lingerie to Food:

1) Lingerie

loose T-shirt made of cotton, polyester, nylon or diaphanous chiffon that can be worn like a Babydoll.

Polyester

[Synthesis / Alcoholic transesterification] ethylene glycol (doubly alcohol-terminated). Multifunctional monomers (i.e., glycerol) result in cross-linking

Glycerin

Glycerin is used in glycerin soap, in cosmetics and creams, in foods, in chemistry, and in glycerin mist.

Hence we come to food

2) Lingerie

French language, for women’s undergarments. These garments are eroticised in Western culture.

Eroticism

Paraphilia

Paraphilia

[Other paraphilias] sitophilia: sexual arousal from food.

And here we are at food again.

3) Lingerie

Merry widow

Nylon

[Historical uses] conspiracy theorists surmise that cannabis sativa was made illegal because the fibres from the hemp plant, used for fabrics

Hemp

hemp (Cannabis sativa”) as a source of oil, food, fibre, etc. Yep, back to food again.

There you go, at least three ways lingerie is linked to food. What about other things?
Well, why not start with some of the obvious ones like sex:

Lingerie to Sex:

1) Lingerie

derived from the French language, for women’s undergarments. These garments are heavily eroticised in Western culture.

Undergarment

[History / Present day] at least in advertising. Sex became the main selling point, bringing to fruition a trend that had been building since at least the flapper era

Sex- see, I told you this one was obvious. Want a more obscure one?

2) Lingerie

Towel

[Pop culture trivia / Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy] the towel can even be used in melée combat. You can use it to hide from the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal
